Privacy policy

This describes what the OceanCart platform actually stores, in plain terms.

Shoppers: no account, almost no data

You can search, browse and use the cart without creating an account or giving us your name, email or address. We set one cookie to remember an anonymous session (so your cart survives a page reload) — it stores only a random id and timestamps, nothing that identifies you personally. If you add items to your cart, we store the product and quantity against that anonymous session. When you click "Buy on <seller>'s website", we record that a click happened (which session, which product, which partner, when) so partners can see how many visitors we sent them — we do not see or store anything that happens after you leave for their site.

We never collect payment information

OceanCart never takes payment and has no checkout, so we never see or store card numbers, bank details or any other payment information. Whatever you enter on a seller's website is between you and them, under their own privacy policy.

Partners and administrators

Sellers ("partners") and administrators sign in with an account, which stores their email address, an identity reference from our sign-in provider, and — for partners — the business details they submit (business name, website, category, country, description, contact email, logo). Administrator actions that affect partners or products are written to a permanent audit log for accountability; it is never deleted or edited.

Aggregate usage events

We log high-level events — a product was viewed, shown in a list, or a referral click happened — to understand what is popular and to run the site reliably. These are operational logs, not a profile of any individual visitor.

Who else sees data

Our sign-in provider, for partner and administrator authentication only.
Our file storage provider, which hosts product and partner images that partners upload.
If enabled by this site's operator, Google AdSense may show ads and set its own cookies, under Google's own privacy terms — this is off unless an administrator has explicitly switched an ad slot on.

Your choices

Clearing your browser's cookies ends your anonymous session and empties your cart. Because shoppers have no account with us, there is no profile to request or delete beyond that session. Partners and administrators can contact us to request changes to their account information.
